The first in a series of talks as part of a Battle of Barnet project will begin tonight.

The series hosted by Barnet museum in St Albans Road, will focus on the war of the roses across England, as well as the battle that shook Barnet in the 15th century.

Tonight’s talk (Thursday May 19) is titled “Men of War: arms and armour of the Wars of the Roses” and is part of the Battle of Barnet project.

The project is a 2 year programme to teach more people of Britain’s history.    

Keith Dowen, an expert in war arms and armour will lead the talk.

The talk will start from 8pm at Pennefather Hall, next to Christ Church.

Tickets are available on the door and cost £5. Under 18s can go free.

The next talk will be on June 16, and will focus on archaeology and arming for war.
