A bridge game in memory of a "larger than life” grandmother has raised more than £3,000 for charity.

Simone Gold, was 66, when she died from lung cancer in January this year.

Simone’s husband, Paul thought a game in her memory would be fitting, as she played and taught at Ace of Clubs, Mill Hill golf club, for over ten years.

The event saw more than 100 people play games of bridge on Friday May 13, and £3,440 was raised for both Chai Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.

Ace of clubs bridge club member, Jill Feldman said: “Simone was larger than life, a very good bridge player and she will be missed by everyone.”

Simone’s sister Lisa, and son Elliot, also attended the event and thanked everyone for their support.

The game was organised for a Friday at 10am, as Simone used to run those weekly sessions.
