A bridge game in memory of a much loved teacher and bridge player raised more than £3,000 for charity.

Simone Gold was 66 when she died from lung cancer, in January this year.

But her former bridge club, Ace of Clubs, decided to organise a tournament in her honour.

It saw 104 people playing bridge and £3,646 was raised for both Chai Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.

Simone’s husband, Paul thought a game in her memory would be a good way to celebrate her life, as she taught at the club for over ten years.

Ace of Clubs bridge club member, Jill Feldman said: “The event was brilliant. Simone’s son, Elliot thanked everyone for the great turn out and for their support.

“It was great that all the 104 people knew Simone, and people who couldn’t attend, donated before the event.

“Simone was larger than life, a very good bridge player and she will be missed by everyone.”

Simone’s sister Lisa, and son Elliot, also attended the event and thanked everyone for their support.

The game was organised for a Friday at 10am, as Simone used to run those weekly sessions.
