Foster care fortnight is underway and older children across Barnet are in need of homes.

This year’s theme for the fortnightly event is ‘Time to Foster, Time to Care’ and will run until May 29.

Barnet has the greatest need for foster care for siblings and children over 12-years-old.

Sloan, a single foster carer who fosters teenagers, said: “I have been a foster carer for three years and simply just love fostering – it’s just the best feeling in the world when you see a young person respond to feeling safe, cared for and supported.

“I enjoy looking after teenagers because my own children are 18, 20 and 21 and I feel the teenagers fit well into our family set up.

An information event will take place this Thursday (May 26) at Building 2 North London Business Park, Oakleigh Road South from 6-8pm.

The Barnet Fostering Team also hold information evenings on the first Saturday and last Thursday of the month.
