NEIGHBOURS united to celebrate the opening of £4.2m joint community centre and church as part of a regeneration project.

People from the Stonegrove & Spur Road estates enjoyed the opening day of the centre ‘OneStonegrove’ in Edgware.

A mobile farm experience with lambs, piglets, geese, and snakes, entertained children and adults, and was hosted by Stonegrove Community Trust on Saturday July 16.

Its facilities include two large activity halls, a treatment room, a chapel and a baptism pool.

The building was officially opened by the Chair of Stonegrove Community Trust, Dan Goodman and Barnet Council Leader, Cllr Richard Cornelius.

Dan Goodman, chairman of Stonegrove community trust thanked all those involved, and said: “This project was made possible by community spirit, co-operation and partnership. Our vision for this centre is to be at the heart of this community for the 900 families that live here.”

The community centre is part of the Stonegrove and Spur Road regeneration project in Edgware, and will be home to The Amber Café, St. Peter’s Church, and Buttercups on the Green nursery and The Hive Community Trust.
