Actor Philip Philmar will be returning to where he grew up tomorrow, in Edgware.
In 1984, at the age of 27, Philip started working as a character model to supplement his income as an artist. Almost immediately he started getting parts in TV commercials and then feature films such as Slugworth in the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Mr Fogg in Sweeny Todd.
Soon he will be appearing in Tim Burton’s new film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar children, in scenes with Samuel L Jackson.
The Good Companions Amateur Dramatic Group will host Philip at John Keble Church Hall tomorrow night to tell of his Hollywood adventures and answer questions including how can you become a professional actor with no formal training? How do you get acting work? And what is a character model?
John Keble Church Hall, Deans Lane, Edgware, HA8 9NS. Details: 0845 604 6304
