MOTORISTS are being reminded that parking wardens will be enforcing restrictions today.
Despite it being Boxing Day, Barnet Council are not recognising it as a public holiday and are treating it as a “normal” Saturday.
It means fines will be issued to drivers who park on yellow-lines, in parking bays without permits and without paying in council-run public car parks.
There was confusion initially when council officers claimed wardens would be charging today and on the coming bank holiday Monday.
But a revised statement said there will be no charge in pay and display and permit holders parking places on December 28, although added: “ Civil enforcement officers will be working, enforcing other restrictions such as yellow lines, obstructions etc.”
Free parking at all pay and display facilities will still be available after 3pm today, as part of the council's free after three initiative, which runs until January 3.
