Girl charged with knife threat and police station attack in East Finchley

A TEENAGE girl has been charged after threatening a group of party goers with a knife before trashing the front of a police station.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is believed to have been involved in the incidents around the East Finchley area at about 1am on Saturday night.

Police said she “gate crashed” a house party in Beresford Road before threatening people with a kitchen knife. It is believed she was demanding money, mobile phones and drugs.

The teen was then chased from the party before she was picked up on CCTV, officers added.

Cameras then spotted a woman throwing a stone and smashing the front window of the East Finchley Safer Neighbourhood Team police office, in High Road.

Team Sergeant Andy Matthews said he was informed of the vandalism on Sunday morning following reports from the Council's CCTV team, who had witnessed the incident.

He said his officers were aware of the vandalism before they went to the office and added the window was boarded up on the same day.

Investigations identified a woman suspected of carrying out the attacks and police made the arrest yesterday afternoon.

The girl has been charged with attempted robbery and criminal damage, and is due to appear in court later this week.
