RUNNERS are gearing up for a culturally diverse charity fun run in Golders Green on Sunday.
Almost 350 people of all ages, denominations and fitness levels have signed up for the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Temple Mile in aid of Sport Relief.
Participants, some dressed in costumes or bright colours, will set off from the temple, in Finchley Road, at midday, and run either a mile, three miles, or six miles on a circular lap of Golders Green.
Members of synagogues, churches, mosques, youth clubs, schools and gyms in the area will take part in the run, and organisers are hoping to raise more than the £12,000 they did for the same cause in 2008.
Once they have completed their laps, the runners will be entertained at the temple with music from the Hindu Shree Muktajeevan Scottish pipe band, traditional dance and refreshments.
Councillors and religious leaders will join the community to celebrate the fundraising event.
Muks Rabadia, who helps publicise the run for the temple, said: “This promises to be a truly fun filled community family event.
“Some runners will be ball juggling and some perhaps even roller skating. Others will have their faces and hands painted and others will end up with red faces, but one thing is certain - they will all remember how exhilarated they felt when they finished the race. “ People can sign up to run on the day or just visit the temple to enjoy the on going festivities.
