AN EXHIBITION celebrating 50 years of Barnet's twinning with a French town has gone on display at a Hendon museum.
The free display, which runs until April 18 at the Church Farmhouse Museum, documents many civic exchanges, sports and educational trips between Barnet and Chaville.
Chaville, which is around six miles south-west of Paris and close to the town of Versailles was twinned with Friern Barnet District in 1959.
When it bacame part of the Borough of Barnet in 1965 it became one of eight towns across the world to be twinned with the borough.
In celebration of the landmark a road in a new et of schools in Chaville is being called Rue de Barnet.
Councillor Robert Rams, who is in charge of learning in the borough, said: “Barnet has enjoyed a strong friendship with Chaville over the years, which has allowed us to explore and exchange each others cultures, values and ideas.
“The exhibition highlights the many memorable occasions which have taken place and I'm sure will continue to do so in future, as the twinning continues to grow and grow."
