A LABOUR councillor has accused Mayor of London Boris Johnson of turning tube stations into a “muggers paradise” with plans to reduce ticket office hours.
Twelve stations in Barnet are in line for slashed hours, which will lead to reduced staffing levels, while West Finchley and Mill Hill East will not have any ticket offices open at weekends.
Councillor Kath McGuirk, Labour's transport spokesman in Barnet, accused the Tory mayor of abandoning his election promises to retain ticket offices.
She said: “We now know that Boris Johnson’s pre-election pledges not to close ticket offices and support the suburbs are now in tatters.
“Despite all the hot air in the past few months, stations across Barnet will suffer ticket office closures.
“The Tories should be ashamed of themselves. They will turn our tube stations into a muggers paradise. So much for a Tory Mayor locally or London wide.”
