A MUGGER who terrified his victim into having an asthma attack has been jailed for more than three years.

Mohammad Dahir, 24, told a would-be good Samaritan he was going to “shank” them, after attacking a 29-year-old man in broad daylight in Cressingham Road, Burnt Oak on July 22.

The Heywood Avenue resident and an accomplice approached the mas as he walked along the road just after midday and asked him “what have you got for me?” before grabbing at his pockets.

He then started kicking at his legs, at which point the victim felt his an asthma attack coming on.

However, at this point a man leaned out of his bedroom window and shouted at Dahir to leave him alone, at which point Dahir threatened to stab him. A passing motorist then phoned police.

The victim managed to run away from the pair despite his asthma attack, but came back when he saw police had arrived and arrested the pair to tell them what had happened.

He later told police: “I was so shocked that something like this could happen at this time of day, in daylight.”

Dtecetive Sergeant Gary Staples, of Barnet CID said: “This was a nasty, violent robbery, committed by men who were so reckless and unheeding of the law that they carried out the offence in broad daylight.

“Those who show such contempt for other people’s well-being, property and the law itself deserve to be heavily punished.  “Thankfully we can balance the vile behaviour of these men, against the care and consideration of those members of the public who intervened and called police.

“It is important that we do not overlook the many good people in our community who are willing to come to another’s aid.”

On Friday, December 17, at Wood Green Crown Court Dahir was sentenced to three years for the robbery and a further six months for affray.
