A WOMAN was attacked by two muggers, who may have followed her from work, on her boyfriend’s doorstep in Barnet.

The 25-year-old had finished work at a clothes store in Knightsbridge on Friday evening and driven to her boyfriend’s in Mays Lane when she was snatched from the doorstep by two men.

They crept up behind her and one put his hand around her mouth telling her to "keep quiet" before pulling her down the garden path, where they got her in a headlock and started trying to take jewellery from her.

But her boyfriend heard the commotion and, fearing it might be his cat being attacked by a fox, looked out of the front door.

The 27-year-old told the Times Series: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, these two black guys attacking my girlfriend. It was a heartstopping moment.

“They had her in a headlock and were really pulling and pushing her around. I didn’t think about it I just ran out shouting at the top of my voice hoping someone would hear.

“I think I caught them a bit by surprise but they were really aggressive. One kept saying ‘what you gonna do?’, then I got punched in the face, but they ran off.”

The pair dropped a handbag they had grabbed from his girlfriend, but managed to grab two rings, one of which was costume jewellery, in the attack at around 8pm.

They escaped in a silver Volkswagen Passat estate car which had been parked in nearby Nupton Drive, heading north towards Quinta Drive.

The victim was left with a bruised and grazed face and cuts to her fingers from the struggle.

Her boyfriend continued: “Initially I thought it was foxes fighting and I was worried for my cat, but when I opened the door and he ran in I realised it was something else.

“I can’t believe no-one else at least came out to see what was going on. I was shouting at the top of my voice but no-one did anything to help, it would have been good to have some backup.

“I don’t feel safe in my own home now, I feel like I need some sort of protection. These men were so brazen. We’re both very shaken from it but I want to warn people to be vigilant, especially if they see a car like that one in the area.”

Both attackers were black men, with one around 6ft tall of medium build.
