A pedestrian's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening after they were hit by a car on the A1.
Police said an air ambulance was put on stand by, but the pedestrian was taken to hospital by road as their injuries were not as serious as first feared.
The A1 has been reopened southbound and police say it is due to be reopened shortly on the northbound carriageway.
