A brother and sister showed off their talent on the ice-rink in front of the Duchess of Cornwall yesterday.

Her Royal Highness watched as Curtis Elton, eight, and Sophia Elton, seven, of Whetstone performed at Queensway Ice Rink in Bayswater.

The pair are mentored by Diamond Champion nominee Alice Hanrahan, 78, of Enfield who has dedicated 40 years to helping young people to ice skate.

The Diamond Champion project aims to find people who are over 60-years-old and volunteer to make a difference to an individual or their community.

Mrs Hanrahan said: “It was such an honour to meet the Duchess of Cornwall. I’m really thrilled to have been nominated as a Diamond Champion. Ice skating relies on people giving up their time to help teach young people. It is so rewarding for me to see young people who have a passion for skating, develop their skills and to flourish.”
