An Edgware church is encouraging volunteers to roll up their sleeves and help clean-up the community.

Burnt Oak Christian Fellowship in Oakleigh Avenue will host its eighth annual Noise Event behind Wood Court care home in North Road.

From 1-5pm on Saturday, August 4, volunteers can pick-up rubbish, cut-back overgrowing plants and weed the large area of unused ground. The church is also launching a Gardening Club which will plant flowers at the site.

Organiser Marcus Ottaviani said: “As always our aim as the church is to practically show God’s love to the North Road community by not only improving the area we live in but by also working together with residents, young people, the North Road Community Association, police and Barnet Homes.

“It really is great working together with everyone from the estate and by getting the young kids and residents to participate encourages them to not only love their area but others too.”

The church will be open after the event where volunteers can unwind, have some refreshments and watch the Olympics.
