Teenager sentenced for knife point robbery in Muswell Hill

Jason Harewood, 19. Jason Harewood, 19.

A teenager has been sentenced to four years in a young offenders’ institute after a knife point robbery in Muswell Hill.

Jason Harewood, 19, from Andover Road, Islington, approached a 42-year-old man with a knife in Fortis Green on Thursday, March 15 at approximately 10.40pm.

Harewood demanded the man hand over his Iphone, cash card and pin number before threatening the victim not to call police.

He left the scene but police were able to trace him by tracking the stolen Iphone.

The officers found Harewood trying to hide on top of a garage and arrested him on suspicion of robbery.

Investigating officer, DC John Martin said: "Harewood had only been released from prison on licence a couple of weeks carrying out this robbery, having served one year of a two year sentence for a knife point robbery just streets away the previous year.

“By carrying out a similar offence, he has shown a complete disregard for the criminal justice system and for the right of law abiding members of the public to go about their business without fear. I am pleased that he will not be walking the streets for a significant period of time."

Harewood appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday August 24 and was sentenced to four years detention in a young offenders' institute.

I'd be willing to wager a £100 that this oxygen thief will do 18 months, learn nothing about morality and end up killing someone in the same circumstances. I thought this government was serious about knife crime. Obviously not.

Very sad a wasted life so young. As time goes on the chances of him changing fade.
