People recovering from mental health problems unveiled a colourful handmade mural at the Finchley Memorial Hospital today.

Members of Arts 89 used glass and ceramic to design the installation which depicts the four seasons spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Annette Meramo, a member of Arts 89, said: “I love the mural. It was really therapeutic to make – I could just get lost for hours.

“Seeing it at the hospital makes me feel proud.”

The mural is situated in a courtyard at the hospital in Granville Road, Finchley, where it can be viewed by patients and staff.

It was installed as part of World Mental Health Day which raises awareness and supports the prevention of mental health related issues.

Arts 89 is based at Barnet and Southgate College’s Wood Street campus where it provides work and training in visual arts for people recovering from mental health problems.
