Six young gymnasts from Mill Hill have vaulted into their school record books after winning bronze medals in a national gymnastics competition.

Vikrim Nagra, 11, Joel Sandler, 10, Sean Saniinejad, 11, Niall Logue, 9, Benjamin Shuker, 10, and James Karageorgis, 10, became the first boys from Goodwyn School, in Hammers Lane, to clinch a prize in the British Schools Gymnastics Association competition, held in Stoke-on-Trent on April 26 and 27.

James, who has been learning gymnastics for two years, was the highest scoring boy in the whole competition. He said he would like to become a professional gymnast.

He said: "The first time I came off the floor I didn't feel very good, but when I found out the results, I was very pleased with myself.

"I would love to do it as a profession, but would probably have to practice more than 15 hours a week."

Goodwyn PE teacher Christine McCormick helped to coach the boys. She said: "I was absolutely thrilled. I didn't know what to expect, but all the boys did extremely well and should be very proud."
