Brent Cross plan is a disaster waiting to happen

10:02am Friday 5th March 2010

Despite attempts by the developer and his PR agency to justify the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration scheme and to denigrate the concerns of those who live in this area, opponents remain totally convinced this whole development is a disaster waiting to happen.

Vote to protect our countryside

10:07am Friday 5th March 2010

With the General Election fast approaching, now is the time to ask those who aspire to be our MPs what they would do if they are elected.

Mums make the world go round

10:08am Friday 5th March 2010

I am a mother with three young boys living in East Finchley and would like to invite those living in Barnet to join a Mothers’ March and Speak Out on Saturday, March 13.

Greener travel: MP shows his true colours

10:09am Friday 5th March 2010

Friends of the Earth congratulates Andrew Dismore MP for backing a call in Parliament to bring cheaper and greener transport options to Hendon.

Barnet First title bears no relation to reality

10:00am Friday 5th March 2010

In these recessionary times, it was uplifting to receive the latest issue of Barnet Council’s publication Barnet First with its attractive photographic content and happy articles about housing redevelopment plans, play areas for children, trees, extra school places, Ofsted approval for Barnet Council, higher standards of care, clean-up teams in our streets and a complete list of our ward councillors — very democratic.

Jim Brightwell’s letter (‘Learning from native species, Your Views, February 4) was at least correct with regard to the risk of disease by planting mono-culture (one species) Dawn Redwood.

11:01am Friday 26th February 2010

The many friends and acquaintances of the late Graham Hutchins would like to applaud his work as chairman of the Cricklewood Forum and editor of Cricklewood Matters for over 20 years. Also, for his sterling work as a member of our local history group.

I cannot praise Barnet Hospital staff enough

11:02am Friday 26th February 2010

I have recently returned home from Barnet Hospital where I had an emergency operation and cannot speak highly enough of the excellent attention and nursing care I had while there.

Brent Cross scheme will bring dust and disruption

10:50am Friday 26th February 2010

We feel very upset at the proposed plans for the regeneration of Brent Cross/Cricklewood, not least because of what is planned for Claremont Road. We have lived here for more than 20 years and it is not bad apart from the tailbacks of traffic at peak times.

Holocaust memorial: Wrong to make a political point

10:51am Friday 26th February 2010

Zena Sloam misquotes me in her letter (‘Lack of respect is deplorable’, Your Views, February 18). I never said I thought Andrew Dismore should not be invited to the Holocaust Memorial Day event.
