David Beere painted a rather bleak picture of Colindale, claiming a failure to invest in Colindale and a reduction in services (‘Hard to believe new promise’, Opinion, June 5).
Mr Beere fails to mention that he was an unsuccessful Labour candidate, who stood at the recent election in my ward (Hendon), and is a current Labour Party activist. His views are, unfortunately, rather biased as a result.
I recently visited Colindale and was impressed by the scale of investment in the area, including the successful Beaufort Park and The Pulse projects, as well as the infrastructure around them.
I spoke to local residents at the music festival and they were extremely happy with the improvements.
I think we should all be grateful for the excellent regeneration programmes in Colindale rather than constantly criticising.
Any problems with roads, potholes and local services are surely due to the shortcomings of the previous Labour councillors in Colindale, not being properly involved in their case work.
I hope residents will elect Conservative councillors in Colindale for a change at the election on June 26, in order to continue with the good work that the Conservatives have done in the area and to ensure they have councillors who will work hard to deliver results for their local residents.
Cllr Mark Shooter
Con/Hendon ward, Barnet Borough Council
