It is disappointing to hear of the mayor’s activities in the property market. Activities which must surely taint the post of the First Citizen of the Borough and consequently the reputations of all the citizens a mayor represents.
Had I been aware of the evidence now available, as a Hale ward voter, I would not have favoured his re-election.
I am aware that politics, even at the local level, is a dirty business, but is it now impossible to elect decent people to represent the citizenry and not their own seedy interests or opportunities to gain?
One can speculate as to what further information on doubtful practices may emerge regarding council members but I am sure, as a past holder of the Queen’s commission in the RAF, the mayor knows the proper and decent thing to do for the greater good of the borough’s reputation.
