I am writing in response to a letter written by John Cox regarding the Brent Cross development (‘Councillor could refuse to sell’, Your Views, July 3).

This is a national scandal that must not take place at the expense of a valuable community where neighbours care about each other. It is priceless and must not be sacrificed for an unwanted Brent Cross sprawl. It seems nowhere is safe from such vandalism.

Since the world wars, much has been said about having a land fit for heroes, but where is it today, with the present trend if it continues non-existent?

How much more misery is to be brought upon decent communities. The scheme must be thrown out and not allowed to resurface ever.
