Having disclaimed any wish to patronise your readers, Stephen O’Byrne immediately proceeds to patronise them most offensively by imputing to them all his own personal hang-ups, political prejudices and historical fantasies regarding the late Lady Thatcher (‘Saddened by naming request’, Opinion, July 10).

It is patronising of Mr O’Byrne to pretend to believe that the entire population of Finchley feels just as he does, and offensive of him to imply (as he does) that the large majorities, who nine times elected Margaret Thatcher as their parliamentary representative, were much more stupid, ignorant or wicked than himself.
