Mr Shillibeer is quite right to bemoan the ignorance of those who will not use the correct London area code of 020 (‘Some people do not understand’, Your Views, July 24).
However, his statement that “after 020 there are eight digits starting with 8 or 7” is not entirely correct. He should be aware that there is now an additional range of numbers beginning with 3 – even more reason for people to quote just 020 as the London area code.
