I read with interest the letter from the Green Party about the planning application to change the former Post Office in East Barnet Village into a coffee shop (‘We do not need any more cafés’, Your Views, September 18).
While I agree with supporting local businesses against large chains, I believe the Greens have forgotten one crucial issue: the quality of the coffee.
The potential occupiers of the post office building offer coffee which is much better than any served in East Barnet’s current establishments.
We really like going to Ludo’s but we will find it hard to resist the ‘chain’ offering unless Ludo and the other cafés can up their game.
