Congratulations on the publication of the letter headed ‘Hendon Football Club – Council should be put before a court’ (Your Views, November 13).
The letter lays out the council’s methods for dealing with such problems...
The borough has long since lost the library in Totteridge Lane, which is now a building site. We shall soon lose the museum in Greyhound Hill by the same method.
The buildings will be left to rot and squatters will move in. Eventually the buildings will become unfit for use – job done. Then a serendipitous chance presents itself whereby the council steps in to save the day. Mission complete.
The council has received a viability study, which it is alleged committee members do not see. I believe the council is itself investigating some method of collecting public feelings on this matter, which will probably end up as a smoke and mirrors job, which will leave the council to use whatever spaces becomes available for just whatever they want. It would be unkind to think that the Barnet One idea is falling short of its promised outcome.
