I have been a patient of the doctors’ surgery at 91 High Road in East Finchley for the last 37 years. I only had good experiences and want to thank the doctors who over the years worked so hard.
The surgery closed on Tuesday and doctors have offered patients a transfer to their main surgery in Muswell Hill, but it is too far away for most people, which leaves the majority of patients to register with the existing three surgeries in East Finchley, thus overcrowding already stretched services.
It has been reported that the chancellor’s budget was painfully silent on the subject of the NHS. I know that there are not enough new GPs to replace the ones who retire.
According to the Royal College of GPs, one in five (22 per cent) of London’s GPs are due to retire or give up general practise in the next five years. That being so, it is important right now to raise the problem of the shortage of GPs in East Finchley.
Residents are calling for a surgery replacement at 91 High Road. Is anything being done about this?
