I would like to thank the 16,782 Barnet and Camden citizens who voted for the Green Party in the London Assembly elections.
The fact that nearly ten per cent of the electorate now votes Green will continue to make all politicians take action to combat climate change and take notice of the importance of sustainability, protecting the environment, and social justice.
Thanks to the Green vote, Jenny Jones and Darren Johnson will be standing up for our Green agenda and representing the Green Party on the London Assembly. It was a tremendous success for us Greens that Alex Goodman has become the third Green councillor on Camden Council, representing Highgate ward.
Sian Berry gave us a strong Green voice in the mayoral election. I am sad my Barnet Green Party colleague Noel Lynch and Sian are not elected to join Jenny and Darren on the London Assembly but, as Scarlet O'Hara said, tomorrow is another day.
It was a great pleasure to represent Barnet and Camden Green parties, as the Green Party constituency candidate for Barnet and Camden, for the third time. Barnet Green Party members will be working as hard as we can to follow Camden's excellent example and put Green councillors onto Barnet Council as soon as we are able.
The high Green vote shows people of Barnet and Camden want to take action to cut carbon and improve our quality of life, by taking more Green choices like cycling, recycling, improving home insulation and educating our children to the highest standards; to allow them to face the future with tenacity.
Miranda Dunn, Green GLA Candidate for Barnet and Camden
