I was amazed when Partingdale Lane was closed, and could not understand how the statistics were arrived at to cause the closure.
I had been travelling through the lane every day from between 8.45am to 9.30am and again at between 1pm to 2.30pm and occasionally on various evenings for 22 years from 1973 to 1995.
I can state in all honesty that during that time, I did not witness one incident involving vehicles, pedestrians, push bikes, horses, prams etc. I have always found it to be a very pleasant, easy lane to negotiate and due to its very nature, drivers were extremely careful.
If the lane is "so dangerous" to the few, why not make it one-way traffic only, that way, they will know where the traffic is coming from and can walk in safety.
