Councillor right to stick by road decision

5:16pm Wednesday 16th April 2003

So Councillor Brian Coleman has been criticised for not having 'an open mind' over the closure of Partingdale Lane.

When that road was closed without consulting its users, the council received 1,451 petitions in favour of reopening and 127 against (report to the committee of public works, November 25, 1997). Who could possibly maintain an open mind in face of such evidence?

Councillor Coleman deserves congratulations for making a responsible promise and sticking to it.
