Most don't want traffic humps

4:14pm Friday 3rd October 2003

I was shocked and appalled to read your article ('Road humps appeal', September 25) regarding the speed bumps where I live in Naylor Road.

Talking with my neighbours, I believe the reality would be the other way around. Everyone I talk to, bar one, wants them removed.

This weekend I spent time in my garden that, until the bumps were removed, would have resulted in my ears being constantly barraged by noise from cars negotiating them. It was positively tranquil, almost rural, this weekend.

Just make the end of Naylor Road one way and immediately you stop the short-cut traffic — and it is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than speed bumps.
