Warden cuts - democracy or demon-crazy?

I read with interest Billie Waldron’s letter, (‘Consultation was shambles’, Your Views, June 11).

It is not only that the consultation was a shambles, but it was ignored all together when the Tory cabinet of Barnet Council passed the proposal to implement cuts to wardens at sheltered homes.

I was there at the rally last Monday where I heard the outcry of 150 or so elderly residents outside Barnet House.

The emotions were high with naming and shaming of the cabinet members.

I also sat in the packed gallery room to listen to the proceedings of the cabinet meeting.

I could not believe the arrogant “don’t care” attitude of the cabinet members who approved the proposals without any hesitation.

Do the Barnet Tories believe in democracy or are they demon-crazy?

People will decide this when they go to the ballot box.
