I have been going through MP Andrew Dismore’s expenses following their publication by the House of Commons.

Like most voters, I was already angry about the expenses scandal, almost punch drunk with it all, but I am shocked to see what my MP has been up to.

I now understand why he has consistently opposed Freedom of Information on MPs’ expenses. Almost every month he has claimed between £50 and £300 on food. I do not understand why I am paying my MP’s supermarket bill as well as my own.

I believe he lives close to Burnt Oak Tube station, a 45-minute ride to the House of Commons, door to door.

It is also ironic that my taxes have paid £323.75 for him to receive accounting advice to complete his tax return. This is not allowed under HMRC rules, and if we can’t get it, why should he? Even his television licence, effectively another tax, is picked up by his hardworking constituents.

Most serious of all are periodic withdrawals of petty cash at £200. Receipts are not required. These petty cash amounts could be used for anything. No business in the land would allow its employees to get away with this.

Roll on the General Election and we can then tell him exactly what we think of his conduct.
