I’m thrilled Barnet Council might save enough money on housing wardens to be able to buy uniforms for library staff.
Soon, everything will be privatised and the council will shrink down to being simply a commissioning office.
Of course, as a resident, I want to see this done responsibly, so I call on the council to enter an agreement that the contractor providing library services must throw out the new uniforms and replace them with alternatives carrying the brand logo of their company.
After all, they’ll be employing the same library staff to do the same job on lower wages, pocketing the difference as profit, so there must be some cash to spare on priorities such as re-branding?
