Council budget: So this is known as being prudent?

I was fascinated to read Councillor Lynne Hillan’s comment on the current administration's budget of ‘prudent’ )’Council slammed over Icelandic debts’, Times Series, February 25).

A £27 million investment in Icelandic banks known not to be reliable, prudent? A potential, almost catstrophic loss of £10m to £18m of taxpayers’ money, prudent?

Dawn Redwood trees in public places, the equivalent of keeping a blue whale in your bath, prudent?

Proposing to triple the size of the current population of a small area of Barnet, potentially inflicting 28,000 extra car journeys a day on the straightjacket of roads in and around Barnet; building a sizeable new town on a flood plain of impermeable blue clay, prudent?

Caring for some of the most vulnerable of our society by removing their on-site warden care, prudent?

What on earth will happen when they stop being prudent? Potenial bankruptcy of Barnet I fear.

spending £1,000,000 on a school then demolishing it.

Proof the con-lab alliance are not capable of dealing with the current econmic realities. These parties are addicted to spending on pet projects regardless of merit.

Prudent? Of course. When I visited the bookies the other day (you know the one, Mike: in Ballards Lane, next to the job centre ...) and placed all my family's savings on a horse which fell over, it wasn't my fault that I lost the money, was it? The man at the bookies who took my money should have warned me my horse might not win: I had absolutely no idea. I went back and asked him for to return my dosh, but he just laughed, can you believe it?

Oh Dorothy, Prudent is a by-word for the current administration but when Barnet stop being prudent, they'll give all our homes to their private Management quango, Barnet Homes, once Cllr Hillan's portfolio (remember Barnet Homes Board) or send in the odd former Board member to tell you, how great the current JJ/Barnet plan is. That person came uninvited all the way from Clitterhouse to tell West Hendon residents, they should accept the regeneration encompassed within JJs original plan for the Cricklewood area some 8 years ago.

Barnet dipping into the reserves to cover the cost of an over budget on the Aerodrome Road Bridge, has to be added to your list

Please don't wish for more poor judgement from all of Barnet's ego tripped councillors and advised by a man called Reynolds. You should see his remuneration.
