JCoSS will create noise, pollution and danger

The news “pupils have applied in their droves” to attend JCoSS will be greeted with alarm and dismay by residents.

It seems the ‘droves’ may now be largely driven to the school in cars, causing massive increases in traffic and a possible controlled parking zone (CPZ).

This would be a betrayal of the deal made with the council and the community at the time planning permission for the school was granted. This was eventually granted on the understanding the school would create a green travel plan to bus the pupils in, rather than having them driven in private cars The school is now reviewing the plan.

I have been told The New Barnet Community Association was promised a seat at the table when the travel plan was discussed, but have never been invited.

What’s more, for the past year, two residents have taken it in turns to raise the issue at the Chipping Barnet’s Residents Forum and been given the runaround.

How effective will our Conservative ward councillors be in enforcing the deal made between the school and the local community?

They don’t actually live in the ward, so won’t be affected by the traffic, the noise, the pollution, the decreased road safety or the CPZ.
