It was good to see Ian Payne is compiling information on Jean Simmons, she was actually living at 120 Cheviot Gardens up till about 1950 when she went to Hollywood.

We lived in Cheviot Gardens opposite Jean and her family and my mother was very friendly with Jean’s mother.

Although Jean was ten years older than myself, I always remember her as a lovely, kind girl who spent a lot of time when not filming, playing tennis in Basing Hill Park.

On Sundays, she would often come over and say Stewart Granger or David Niven and Michael Wilding were coming to tea and if I went over I could get their autographs.
