Coaches provided from day one at JCoSS

10:06am Friday 19th March 2010

I was disappointed to read letters which wrongly claimed JCoSS had abandoned plans to provide coaches for its students and will instead be relying on private cars, (Your Views, March 11).

I have no idea where such rumours might come from, but I want to reassure both our prospective parents and residents that they are nonsense.

JCoSS will be providing private coaches from day one and we remain committed to doing everything we can to promote alternatives to private car use.

For this reason, we are already in talks with Transport for London about improving public transport options.

Of course, our offers have only just gone out and we don’t yet know exactly where our students will come from.

Self-evidently, the vast majority of our students will live within a six-mile radius that includes the Jewish centres of population of Finchley, Hendon, Edgware, Southgate and Golders Green. Once we have our acceptances in, we will be able to take final decisions on exactly which coach routes will work best, but our best guess is that we will provide between three to five coaches in the first year.

The options under consideration are also on our website. We invite anyone with genuine concerns about our transport plans to contact us.
