Ripping out traffic-calming measures endangers pedestrians

1:56pm Thursday 7th April 2005

Without consulting residents, the council has ripped out the traffic-calming in Torrington Park — surely an act of wanton destruction.

Not only has council tax-payers’ money been needlessly squandered when financial reserves are low, but the lives of pedestrians, particularly children and old people, have also been placed in danger.

Speeding motorists will use the road as a rat run. This folly makes a busy road even more dangerous.
