With reference to your report last week (Stadium battle', January 26), I wish to inform you that we refute Councillor Brian Salinger's statement that the plan to move Barnet Football Club to Montrose Playing Fields has early support from the Burnt Oak Traders' Association. To our knowledge, at no time has Mr Salinger consulted us or asked our opinion on his plan to move Barnet FC.
In light of his statement, we have now taken a random opinion of the Burnt Oak traders. They think it would be better to put the stadium nearer to their businesses in Watling Park, at the end of the town centre.
The reasons for this are that it would be within walking distance of the Underground, on several bus routes, very easy to find at the end of the town centre and near the library.
Car parking is available in the Watling car park, and the move would encourage regeneration of Watling's Saturday market.
