Matthew Offord: Contact made, but still no response

Further to Danny Knight’s letter about the invisible Mathew Offord, I have also tried, without success, to contact the MP (‘Where has our new MP gone?’, Your Views, August 12).

Finally, last week I received an automatic response to an email as follows: “I have just been allocated an office so I am prioritising communications to ensure I deal with the most urgent first.

If you are awaiting a response please be advised that it will be dealt with as swiftly as possible.”

Don’t hold your breath.

I have to say I don't recognise the desciption painted by this papers letter writers about Matthew Offord. I have on occasion, over the years, both during his time as a councillor and since his general election victory, had cause to be in correspondence with him. On all occasions Matthew Offord has always responded to me in a prompt and courteous manner.

These letters have all the hallmarks of a smear campaign with a taste of sour grapes about them, the election has been and gone, so has the Labour MP. Get over it!

Sounds like a next door neighbour of Mr Offord is 'pickled' about other constituents experience of their MP's courteous manner.
