Of course we are fearful of changes

I feel I must answer Robert Sacks’ letter (‘No need to fear change’, Your Views, August 12).

He says we are fearful of the changes brought about by the proposed development at Brent Cross which also encroaches on Cricklewood. He does not live in the area so does not understand the full implications and impact on residents’ lives.

We are not opposed to some regeneration and would always welcome improvements where necessary but the scale and effects of this development in its present form are too big and not clever.

Some people will have their homes and businesses bulldozed. We will lose our bit of green outside B&Q in Cricklewood Lane, far from Brent Cross. We will have our playing fields hijacked and made into a park. We will lose the free open-air car parking at Brent Cross and will suffer worse traffic and tailbacks on our roads.

We will have a very tall chimney churning out nano-particles of nobody knows what over us.

We will have 20-storey blocks built virtually in our back gardens and towering over our homes. We will suffer possible flooding to our allotments and to live on a dusty building site for 20 years or more.

Is it any wonder we are fearful?
