I would like to offer a contrary position regarding Barnet Council’s parking enforcement policies.
I am a shopkeeper in Station Parade, Totteridge Lane, who campaigned to have pay-and-display bays installed so our customers could park.
The bays are “No return” so a free-flow of customers coming and going is the desired effect.
But despite my best efforts, Barnet will simply not enforce these bays in the same way it does elsewhere.
At best, we see a warden twice a day and sometimes less. The result is it’s the only pay-and-display bay in the borough where you can (almost) park for free without fear of recrimination.
Sometimes cars are parked all day in every bay, leaving customers nowhere to park. Shops like us rely on customer parking and Barnet should be enforcing these bays in the same way it does elsewhere.
