    Times Comment: The right pitch?

There have been more twists and turns in Barnet Football Club's stadium story then in a murder mystery novel, so it would be foolhardy to get too carried away with the news that Barnet Council has found a site for a new stadium.

Many believe that the possibility of the club actually moving to Montrose Park, Burnt Oak, is little more than fiction, but the council does deserve credit for finally coming up with a proposal. And even if it is workable, the club must also decide whether it wants to leave its home, and many of its fans, in the north of the borough.

In the meantime, it is important that the council and club continue to focus on the current problems at Underhill which need to be resolved in the next 18 months to ensure the club's survival in the Football League.
