He would have been fairly far down on the list of potential match winners for Barnet but Clovis Kamdjo’s fine goal helped the Bees complete a 1-0 victory against Torquay United.

Barnet defended well in the opening period to keep the game goalless at the break. It was more of the same in the second half but a rare Bees attack saw Kamdjo thump home the winner in the 79th minute.

Mark Robson and Edgar Davids made six changes to their side following the weekend defeat to Oxford United.

After a fairly even opening, the Gulls took control of the half and fashioned several chances without really testing Graham Stack.

Billy Bodin cut in onto his right foot before firing over the crossbar – it became a recurring theme throughout the half.

Brian Saah poked an effort towards goal from a cross but Stack easily saved the defender’s flick while Rene Howe caused the Bees defenders several problems with his strength and power.

The big striker narrowly shot over before his delicate chip saw Stack required to push the ball wide of his post.

Barnet’s best opportunity of the half came from Mark Byrne as the midfielder’s low free-kick took a deflection and skipped past Michael Poke’s post.

Bodin had plenty of joy in the opening period against debutant full-back Elliot Johnson and as the half came to a close he cut into the box before smashing his effort across goal and out for a throw in.

The Gulls had to make a goalkeeping change two minutes into the second period as Poke was replaced by Martin Rice.

However, the switch didn’t affect the visitors and they continued to create the better opportunities.

Lee Mansell had a fine low header pushed wide by Stack and Howe sent an effort across goal which failed to trouble the Bees stopper.

Barnet continued to struggle in attack and Clovis Kamdjo, arguably the Bees standout performer in recent matches, dragged a shot harmlessly wide.

Bodin then missed the target again as he sent a half volley comfortably past Stack’s post.

The Gulls were made to pay for their missed opportunities as, with 11 minutes remaining Barnet took the lead.

Kamdjo won the ball in midfield and quickly passed through to Hyde. The Cameroonian burst into the Torquay box, received the ball six yards out and smashed past Rice.

The Bees looked more confident after going ahead and Oliver Lee clipped a shot narrowly past the post.

While Torquay pushed forward in search of a late equaliser they couldn’t break down the stubborn home defence.

Jake Hyde had a late shot saved and the Barnet defence kept their fourth consecutive League Two clean sheet to seal victory and move the Bees off the bottom of the table.
