Mark Robson and Edgar Davids are pleased Barnet have moved off the bottom of the League Two table and the joint head coaches both praised the Bees defending after the 1-0 victory over Torquay United.

The narrow victory over the Gulls, secured by a Clovis Kamdjo strike, extended the Bees undefeated league run to four matches and means they’ve taken ten points from a possible 12.

It also meant Barnet kept their fourth consecutive clean sheet in the league – the last time that was achieved was the 2001/2002 campaign.

Edgar Davids has started every game throughout that run and he stated the Bees have “gone back to basics”.

He explained: “It is very simple, you go back to the basics and you try to implement certain things that you work on a daily basis.

“So it is important for me it is important I see progression.

“If I don’t see that it is very disappointing. We are going to lose at times because if you look at the budget for the squad, it is the lowest in the whole league.

“But you can make it difficult for everybody and that is what we are showing now.”

Since the Dutchman’s arrival it is easy to forget the work put in by Mark Robson. He is pleased with how his side are defending and believes moving off the bottom of the table is a boost for everyone at the club.

He said: “It is great for everybody because I think it lifts everyone. It gives the players, the fans and the staff a boost that we are off the bottom.

“It is only on goal difference but we have gone four games unbeaten now in the league. We have always said that we want to be further up the league and safe a little bit earlier if we can and that is still the aim.”

Davids added: “It (moving off the bottom) absolutely gives you confidence but we are working on a project together and if you see it working you then believe in it more and it gives you more confidence.

“That is important and it will help being off the bottom but as we say in Holland, one swallow doesn’t making a summer.”
