Edgar Davids believes “Christmas has been good” for Barnet despite the Bees suffering a 1-0 New Year’s Day defeat to fellow League Two strugglers Aldershot Town.

Davids’ side collected seven points from four matches over the busy festive period to move Barnet out of the relegation zone.

The Bees defeated Burton Albion and Martin Allen’s Gillingham over Christmas before coming from two goals behind on Saturday to claim a draw at Exeter City.

A penalty from Craig Reid helped the Shots record a 1-0 win at Underhill on Tuesday but Davids, who is now in sole charge of the first team, is pleased with Barnet’s points haul over Christmas.

He said: “Absolutely I would’ve taken that (seven points) but if you look at the last couple of games then I am a bit disappointed of course.

“But if you win against the top contenders for the league away from home then you are doing a good job.

“So I think Christmas has been good for us.”
