Barnet Elizabethans got the new year off to the perfect start as they completed 23-0 victory at Cheshunt in London Three North West.

Elizabethans team performance was dominated by their pack and their forwards controlled most aspects of play.

The visitors went ahead after five minutes as a penalty was forced close to the home line and Glyn Bayley confidently fired over.

Barnet soon added to their advantage as the power of the pack showed and Willy Pritchard drove over the line.

Before the interval Bayley added another penalty to put his side 11-0 ahead at half time.

Elizabethans controlled the second period and a brace of converted tries from Ricky Stevens put the visitors in complete control.

Barnet pushed forward in search of an extra try which would ensure a bonus point but they were unable to break through.
