Teams may finally stop underestimating Barnet.

In their last three away matches, the Bees have played teams with playoff and promotion ambitions yet have claimed seven points from a possible nine.

Their latest scalp, Rotherham United. The result 2-0. And, in truth, it was fairly comfortable as the Millers rarely tested Graham Stack.

Jake Hyde’s well taken chip in the opening period put the Bees ahead and Andy Yiadom, on as a second half substitute, sealed the win with a confident finish.

Edgar Davids returned to the starting XI in place of John Oster while Hyde and Ibra Sekajja replaced Taiwo Atieno and Yiadom.

After an early onslaught from the home side, Barnet settled and passed the ball with purpose across the pitch.

Sekajja proved a threat down the right of the Bees attack while the centre-back paring of David Stephens and Andy Iro dealt with several long passes from the Millers.

Rotherham did come close to breaking the deadlock though but Ben Pringle's shot went narrowly wide of the post.

Barnet attacked sporadically in the opening 20 minutes but they went ahead with their first clear opportunity of the contest.

A long pass forward from Mark Byrne was chased down by Hyde. Andy Warrington came off his goal line, but the Bees striker coolly lifted the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Davids’ side took confidence from going ahead and created further chances to add to their lead.

Sekajja skipped past a defender before shooting wide and then the Crystal Palace loanee saw another effort tipped over the bar.

Mark Bradley missed a good chance from a free-kick for the hosts and the Millers’ faithful were frustrated with their side’s performance.

Barnet then almost grabbed a second goal through Iro. The powerful defender directed a Byrne corner towards goal but his effort was cleared off the line.

However, Iro sustained an injury as he attacked the ball and he had to be stretchered off. Clovis Kamdjo replaced him in defence.

In the closing stages of the first half Rotherham pushed players forward and came close on numerous occasions.

Several set-pieces into the Bees box caused panic but a combination of good goalkeeper and last ditch defending kept Barnet ahead at the interval.

Rotherham had much more possession in the second period but Stack remained fairly untroubled.

A swerving shot from Ricky Holmes almost deceived Warrington but the Millers’ stopper managed to tip the ball just over the crossbar.

Rotherham continued to hit hopeful balls forward but Stephens and Kamdjo were dominant in the air.

Any chances the Millers did have were speculative shots from distance that failed to force Stack into meaningful action.

In the final ten minutes the Bees defence dropped deeper which allowed Rotherham to apply further pressure on the visitor's goal.

However, a determined run from Holmes won a Barnet free-kick on the edge of the area and Byrne’s effort was turned over the bar by Warrington.

From the resulting corner, the ball wasn’t cleared and Holmes collected the ball down the left flank.

He skipped past a challenge, cut the ball back into the box and Yiadom fired home the Bees second goal.

In the closing stages Stack failed to collect a Daniel Nardiello shot at the back post but the striker fired over the rebound from two yards.

The Bees then almost added a third through Holmes. He dribbled past two challenges in the box but his shot struck the post and bounced clear.

Seconds later and the final whistle was blown. An away win for the Bees and one they deserved.
